The hidden station wasn't in the game on release, so the stag not knowing about it is more of a meta joke than lore.
Isma didn't get any character story
I hope you don't forget to actually do the geo statue despite what it says
23:27 Bardoon is on to you. He is the loremaster. Definitely one of the best lore encounters in the game. Regarding Isma's Grove: If you don't battle the Dung Defender and then flip the switch the area will still be submerged in acid.
I really wonder how your hoppers got so bugged, I've never seen that happen before!
38:50 it was filled with acid so you couldnt get past till beating him 🙂
that one heck of a big bug 😀
nice singing even if she creepy as heck 😛
9:30 you can get to it with your current tools, it may just take a few attempts.
41:25 You can dream nail the tree, you just need to be a bit closer
You not finding that little way to kingdoms edge was hilarious lol. Don't worry welonz, you'll eventually make your way through there, better beelieve it 👊
"The king needs to travel all accross the kingdom". Not true. A monarch will rarely visit the rural areas, market places or the regular neighbourhoods. They need to walk around their palace grounds and maybe make diplomatic travels on their personalized carriages, most of the time accompanied by trusted knights and in the shielded part of the carriage. If its a public appearance, the king is either far away in a podium or marching for war.
If the Pale King was to have a stag station it would be quite private, maybe with a personalized Stag
Good to see you found Yzma's new grove
In case you haven't figure it out yet, you can go up above King's Station by nail pogo-ing on the spikes. You can nail-pogo on the floor spikes and those big centipede things in the Colosseum, too. Could really save one in a pinch when they fall off the platforms.
I was so nervous that you would dream nail Marissa. Aside from your morals, I don't think there's anything bad about dream nailing the ghosts. However, nailing Marissa actually causes the music in city of tears to change. Listen closely and you can hear her singing but use the nail on her and it goes away
So here's a sad fact… after you get to the "boss" fight above her, you can use the dream nail to encapture her. It doesn't do anything, hell you don't gain any dreams, it's just a ironic ending you can do.
I never did. I immediately reset the game cause I found it too sadistic
Oh, Marissa… I'm so sorry!
Pieces are falling into place. I'm so excited for the next few episodes. Really loving this series.
Dream of the Palace, dream, harder. BTW Dreamnail, too far from Isma. Wonder what happened to her? WHAT happened to the City, starvation, implied cannibalism?
Speaking of lacking money/bank, didn't the Bank lady thought about hitting the spa? Was half-expecting to see her there.
At Kings station remember that you can pogo on spikes!
7:44 Does he? Perhaps he didn't travel? Or perhaps he needed a secret way to travel that no one knew about? (I don't actually know; these are just questions to ponder)
8:14 Casual reminder that you can pogo off of spikes. 🙂
24:51 Ah, after all your speculation about what the "petals" are, there's your answer. 🙂 (Though it raises some more questions in the process)
46:20 You've already dealt with what it opens, without realizing it. The pipes in the background are a clue. If you haven't opened this yet, there's a barrier in front of you in the location at 38:31
Nice progress! You were on the right track but just a bit too far away when trying to dream nail Isma, not important but if you ever go back there 🙂
Yo I just got a call from a friend of yours saying a party is being held for you in Kingdom's Edge, don't miss it.
27:54 Welonz! Look closly at the colosseum of fools…..
03:05 Scraping the bottom
08:05 There are several areas in the capital that retain "unexplored" look on the map. This one, however, is a true secret.
30:55 The choice will pay off in more than one way
42:45 Didn't know they could trigger each other
oh so emilitia is just plain evil. queen!
this map is officially too big 😭 its crazy!
Here we are, a momentous moment of Hollow Knight reaching thirty episodes, still locking curious explorers to explore the same areas, making them fight the big fights in honor of long-lost concept of proper justice, which is a fine thing to do. To get through this adventure in one piece might be the one feature that'll teach any honest person the advanced fundamentals of frugality, gentleness, and humility; a humble trio of handpicked traits of awesomeness and patience. To those accustomed to starting their Jedi training from conceptual analyses, the holistically beneficial way of deep thinking is inconceivable. Presumably, only very few thinkers, researchers, and scientists caring not for gain and fame may sometimes reach the fine conclusion of Hollow Knight and face the awaiting reward only accessible for those who stayed true to themselves. Mm-hm, yes indeed. May the force be with you, my friends [Thumbs up]
Man, I am so sad you dream nailed Isma but missed.
43:28 that area to the right here was full of acidic water so you had no access to Isma's Tear until you beat the Dung Defender. After you beat him, you hit a lever that drained this acid.
You might be able to sequence break the game to get Isma's Tear without beating the Defender. Idk, I've never tried.
I've really been enjoying these episodes. I haven't seen any new players be as able to put two and two together as you have. I'm very curious to see what decisions you'll make from here on out with the new abilities you've recently acquired.
The valve after Dung Defender is what opened up Isma's Grove. The area's flooded otherwise.
You're going to want to donate more to the fountain in ancient basin at some point. Come back when you have too much geo. Also I think you missed some minor stuff after the Broken Vessel arena.
Lol, Bardoon. Just lol. And I bet back in the day Eternal Emilitia was an absolute Karen.
Now that you have Isma's Tear, can you remember any particular named locations featuring large bodys of acid? Oh, 42:54 – I spoke too soon!
You've mentioned a lot of good places to re-visit, and there are a few more I could mention but I'll just say one: don't forget about Howling Cliffs!
41:22 you didn't hit it, dream nail was too short
Dear welonz… the upper section in 9:20, you can always pogo on spikes, dont forget that 👀
Im so excited
next to dung defender, with the thing that you have no idea what it does, you should use ground pound,
just for extra stuff, nothing that is "you must do this to progress"
Isma's grove was accessible because you beat the Dung Defender, as the lever on the pipe with green liquid opened the gate near the sign. "Proving yourself in combat" refers to defeating Dung Defender.
The entrance to Isma's grove is flooded in acid if you don't press the pipe lever after beating Dung Defender. The lever drained it.
It's true the game can be cryptic, but I think the biggest issue is lack of context. Anything the dreamers or Bardoon or even dreamnail dialogue starts falling into place easier and easier the more you learn. Its already starting to come together for you I can tell, maybe take some time to remember what the dreamers said earlier?
nice
7:05 – The station didn't exist at the game's launch. But since Ancient Basin is a place you need to return to more than once, developers added it in a later patch. Hence the Stag's comment.
7:34 – "The King never rode stagways himself" – Stag, at King's station.
8:33 – This one is intended to be hard 😉 Don't worry, you're missing only geo.
18:08 – All "simple" dreams get absorbed by the Dream Nail. And if you do it to Marissa, the music for the City of Tears loses vocals. It's her voice in the soundtrack.
31:15 – Important: this (right under the lever) is the only breakable ground that doesn't give a sound, you just have to deduce it's here, so I believe telling this is OK.
41:21 – You were standing too far 🙁
I think Dream Nailing the spirits after you read their dialogue is a good thing. They don't even realize they're dead and most of them seem to be suffering in some way. Let them move on and rest.
The Dung Defender IS the guy one need to defeat to prove your honor to enter the Grove. If you had found the grove before beating the Defender, the entrance would have been covered in acid. When you defeat him and hit the lever, the acid is drained trough the pipes.
19:50 That bug is so weird, it keeps happening to you yet I've never seen it before…
You could of actually dream nailed the tree, you were just not close enough
In some earlier videos you'd wondered how long ago the kingdom fell, whether it was recently or in some ancient past! I think Emelitia is fair evidence that it must have been recently enough for some bugs to survive. Though, it's notable that different bugs have very different lifespans, so if the kingdom fell, say, five years ago, that could be within Elelitia's lifetime but the ancient past for other bugs.
I think shit is about to get real in the next episode. Hyped.
It's been exciting to watch you discover new stuff you had left behind before, but it's hard to understand what is helpful guidance versus what's a spoiler, so I'm trying to refrain from saying anything too early.
In a previous conversation with the stag, he stated that he had only heard about the Pale King and that the king never used the stagways himself. Uncertain (to me at least) what the queen may or may not have been doing in relation to the stagways.
Bardoon appears to be a really, really big caterpillar. He's one of the characters that will have more lore to tell you if you trigger certain in game events (or are wearing certain charms or having other items in your inventory).
