  1. I think i crept thru this game over the course of a year. and when i thought i was close to done…AN ENTIRE OTHER NEW MAP OPENED UP. and i almost shit myself.

  2. Glad to see lots of people praising this game- for it's rough edges, it was an immersive, punishing, beautiful game, back in the day.

What no-one has mentioned though is the level editor. That thing was brilliant. My mates and I made some awesome multiplayer maps on our LAN-linked '360s- had some great drunken nights battling it out on our custom, insanely-flammable arenas. The environmental models and effects, even on the editor, seemed better than the later FC games.

  3. Yeah i know the video is 4 years old, but i think with all of its mechanics and features its still an outstanding game. Its just so much fun to just go offroad and explore the environment. I cant count how often i beat this game and for me its on the same level as FC3, in its own way.

    Damn i love this game.

Oh and the jackal has not enough screentime, would like to see more of him.

  4. I don't understand how some people say this is the best Far Cry when it's clearly the worst. I gave up on the game after the first time I played it, it's dreadfully boring. The visuals look dated and bleak. Everything is brown and grey. Even the sun just looks like a white circle. You couldn't even tell it's supposed to be the sun were it not for the bloom. At night time, it's almost impossible to see anything. Searching for gems is a nightmare and takes forever, and you can't get guns any other way. You can't sprint without your stamina running out after 2 seconds and an obnoxious blur filter appearing to tell you you're out of breath. The save system is absurd. You can't save unless you go to a specific location on the map. No fast travel (at least as far as I bothered playing into the game). The story is stupid. The main antagonist of the game is the dealer selling arms to two murderous gangs, so we're going to stop him…buy buying as many guns as possible and racking up as big a body count as possible. I'd think the rival gangs are the problem, not the businessman simply supplying their demand. The later FarCry games have Ubisoft's patented "Boring busywork CAN substitute real gameplay" design principles, but at least they're fun, to some degree. FC2 is simply not worth playing.

  5. I wish Ubisoft would see what made Far Cry 2 great despite its issues. Bringing degrading weapons , organic pickup animations, more dynamic shootout mechanics, and the various healing animations across the board back to the franchise would be so amazing. However, seeing the route they've gone into, the RPG territory, it's pretty much unlikely. Far Cry 6, I'm looking at you. Fingers crossed at best.

  6. I'll agree it was a great game for it's time, but the best in the series….Come on?
By the time of this video far cry 3, 4 and maybe even primal had been released. Of course since there's been FC5 and new dawn which I thoroughly enjoy, especially 5 it has a great story, good characters, best buddy system of them all and one of the best soundtracks EVER, and I don't just mean for a video game!
